Belfast's The Bureau..... by Shaun Dangerfield.

It's all a bit samey isn't it, you can trawl through various internet web shop's or in store and you see the same thing's.
So to step outside of that and have somewhere choose and stock their clothing for the right reason's as opposed to simply hype is nice to see, and once you have sifted through all the bull s**t of what they want to tell you on the different site's how many are actually left that are worth browsing and shopping with ? I can probably count them on one hand but right up there for me is The Bureau in Belfast.
Their choice of label's are draped in character and soul and are rich in style. Quality clothing as opposed to high end fashion which is something I share. I don't want the next big thing for 6 month's I want a quality product to help build a continuous wardrobe, thing's that get better with age and don't fall out of fashion because they were never in fashion, just quality in term's of material, design, cut and item's that I love wearing.
And you get that with The Bureau, stocking Post Overall's, Nigel Cabourn, ts(s), Anachranorm, Nanamica, Gitman bros vintage and many other's including their own young label Merchant's and Missionaries providing a host of Shirt's and fine knit.
They always take time out to reply to your mail's or question's and their customer service is second to none.
Take a look at them here if you have not done so yet, or a refresher if it's been a while......

No amount of word's can take the place of visual's so I've got a few choice photo's from them that I've enjoyed looking at this year......

Saturday sound... By Saul Wilks.

HAD to post this tasty little groove from Starpoint, last night - a wicked dance floor stormer with all that nice funky squelch that I love going on. The strings are pretty galactic as well.

Been hammering it all day in anticipation for a long over due London visit tomorrow, just a few hours of work to get through tonight and then I'm outta here... Enjoy the weekend and the sounds.

C'ya !

Something more than cinema...By Saul Wilks.

I love British cinema... I love it because it's real, I love it because it's thought provoking and isn't tarnished with loads of naff special effects. I love it because it's charming, and rustic and romantic and gritty and all the good things a film should be.

Okay, I'm probably being a bit general, but speaking in generalities British films usually deliver exactly the sort of feeling and experience I want from a piece of cinema. This film doesn't disappoint.

Submarine is a dreamy and genius slice of life in the world of Welsh teenager Oliver Tate, hopelessly in love, hopelessly lost in his own world and well, just hopeless. Battling to save his parents marriage and trying to win over the object of his affections is a balancing act that proves to be humorous yet touching in equal measures. The way this film is shot is pretty gorgeous and I can watch it over and again without getting board, forever being captivated by the beautiful way in which the romance is purveyed and the cinematography style in which the film is shot.

I'm in no way an expert at analysing or reviewing films, so I'll leave it to you to watch it yourself - if that's your thing. All I know is that for those with a romantic inclination, this film is pretty ace and certainly leaves you with a smile on your face and a pretty good feeling inside.

Weekends Threads & Treads.... by Shaun Dangerfield

The past 10 day's have been up & down to say the least, a heavy Illness to DJ'ing in a department store, moving family member's house's, a bit of football and some nice food, so apologies for my lack of blogging as it's been pretty hectic, thought I would share a few detailed snap's from this weekend's thread's, Friday's festivities in cord and suede and Saturday's day and night's naughtiness in tweed, denim & leather..... sound's saucy doesn't it, Don't expect too much you'll only be let down.... more match day as opposed to YMCA. (I knew what you were thinking as soon as I said tweed denim & leather.)

Duffle coats, Romans and Autumn...By Saul Wilks.

Just got home after a pretty rum day exploring local ancient Roman ruins, supping pints in log fire pubs and dining on hearty steak... All in all, a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon as opposed to getting royally munted !

Like Oldskool brother! By Saul Wilks

So it's pretty damn fresh outside today and after the weekend I've just had that's taken me from the outer reaches of my mind to 5* country retreats sipping fine champagne and dining on prime Welsh Rib eye, I don't want to take any chances catching a chill. Enter Mountain Equipment Fitzroy.

I picked this gem up a few years back up at Wood in Manchester, which has now sort of branched out to Bags of flavor, a rather cool vintage only shop where rare diamonds such as the below can be sourced through a little bit a bartering and chit chat with the enthusiastic proprietor.

I thought I'd keep things a little bit casual for an afternoon stroll and ended up with a rather 80s looking get up, which is pretty fine with me. I often feel like I should have spent my prime time days in that period anyway, so it's rather fitting.

Live across the airwaves... By Saul Wilks

I was lucky enough to be asked to play a live set on the 54 mode radio show on Friday last. Based out of Cardiff, the 54 mode show is listened to and renowned the world over by aficionados of disco and boogie sounds and I'm a big fan of the show myself, so being asked to play was something of an honor for me.

You can check the hour long show out, complete with mix from start to finish by just clicking on the play button below and hopefully enjoy what was a pretty ace night from start to finish.

Not bad to get you through your Monday routine eh ?!

Enjoy.

Boogie Cartel 5th November party.... by Shaun Dangerfield

I have just spent the last 4 days trying to shake off one hell of a bug, I thought it was food poisoning at first, or a very late millenium bug but after how hard we hit it last weekend I think it's just the end of the festivities catching up with me, which always makes you ask the question...... Was it worth it ?

Yesssssss of course it fucking was it was an amazing night full of amazing people that I enjoy no end spending my time with, the atmosphere, the crowd, the music and everything else that roll's into our Boogie Cartel night's just hit the spot every time, it was without doubt our finest moment since the birth of the Cartel and if you missed it don't panic just hit the next one and bring your partner's and cousin's and grandmothers and we'll all just get right on one !!

Mix from the night from myself just below you can play it or if you click that little black arrow pointing down you can download it and let me cum in your ears forever on your ipod.
The photos are a little fuzzy which kind of represents the whole night perfectly.

Much love Captain Turtle x
