Hipster Star Wars.... by Shaun Dangerfield

I love illustration's, I love Star Wars and I love clothing, so how about this for a bit of eye candy.
Hong Kong illustrator John Woo's solo exhibition entitled "HE WEARS IT" with his set of Star Wars creation's teamed up with various designer's clothing, perfect, not completely my bag clothing wise but fussy mean's less eh ?
The Junya is without doubt my favourite, I know I've entitled this Star Wars only but he has other illustration's too included in this and I "had" to include the Joker and Forrest Gump which I think look ace.
It's almost spurred me to do some more of my own illustration's in clothing that I'm inspired by, watch this space.

A Bit Of Comfort..... by Shaun Dangerfield

Sometime's it's nice to pick up some great comfort basic's, and there's no better sweater wise at the moment than the 1950's great sweat from Our Legacy, in a supposedly red marl it come's in lighter than that colour wise in my book, but who am I to argue, be it red marl or pink or salmon, it's still ace.
Our Legacy continuously churn out fantastic simple clothing season in season out and deserve all the credit they get.

The Folk tee again in a lovely looking marl but in an ocean blue is another summer comfort tee I'm looking forward to breaking out come the warmer month's, I'm looking forward to a bit of sun now.
Some like it hot..... I like it hot, and deep.

Boogie Cartel for the Vintage Festival mix...By Saul Wilks.

For those who are on the festival tip, Vintage festival is a name that is perhaps over looked when compared to some of the more public-known larger events. However, for those in the know, vintage festival is one of the most revered entries in the summer diary and celebrated by a great cross section of music, film and style lovers.

Having a superb music policy ranging from Northern Soul to Disco and back, plus art, design and fashion, Vintage festival is certainly a fine alternative for those looking to avoid the stereotypical warm cider and lairy Ted festival experience. To summarise, It's pretty much as cool as it gets.

With this in mind it was understandably ace to be asked to do an exclusive Boogie Cartel mix for them, allowing for our very own Tom Armstrong (who is the spit of the geezer holding the phone in the 'Raving 89' post below - minus dodgy pony tail) to step up and to lay down a fun filled mix full of the 'Best of British' tracks from his delectable record box.

The Vintage festival loved it. Of course.

I'm pretty sure you'll dig it too, press play and check it out!

Raving 89, a photographic book by Gavin Watson... By Saul Wilks.

I've been a fan of Gavin Watson's photography since I was given a book by a chap who works for PYMCA (Photographic Youth Music Culture Archive) when I was a young pup. It was a coffee table effort not available to buy in the shops, charting every youth sub culture associated with a music scene from the days of the original mods.

Gavin Watson's photos featured prominently throughout that book, from his early days as a Wycombe based Skinhead to his ecstasy inspired partying days during the acid house scene so when I became aware that DJ history had commissioned a book of his photos chosen from those heady days of illegal warehouse parties and fuzzy memories I knew I had to have it.

The collection on a whole is an honest and humorous insight into people getting off it and dancing to the music they love during one of the most important times of recent social history. I can pretty much relate to those pictures of gurning and happy smiles every time we throw a Boogie Cartel party... although in hindsight, we probably don't see as many twatted faces at ours. Just.

It's all in the Ventile... By Saul Wilks.

POW!

Lovely post Xmas sale pick up in the form of the double ace Albam Ventile parka in Burgundy.

You know that feeling you get when you first clap eyes on something and know you've got to have it? Well I got those tingles when I first saw this. The fit is perfect for that modern shioutte, bestowing a cut that is both classic, yet contemporary making for a preactical and stylish piece. This is certainy one of the best jackets I've bought for a long time.

When Albam put garments out like this, it's understandable why it's loved by such a cross breed of people.

The perfect jacket for those overcast days when everyone else is getting a good hammering from mother nature while you're high and dry.

Oliver Spencer Quay...By Saul Wilks.

To say I was spoiled this Christmas is probably an understatement... No wait, that's a blatant lie, I was spoiled rotten like a 10 year old only child rich kid. God only knows how I managed to be on the receiving end of so many ace presents, but life is just I suppose.

As always, my girlfriend was bang on the money and scored some massive bonus points by handing me this delectably beautiful Oliver Spencer Quay jacket on Christmas Eve morning. I love that girl.

This is quite possibly one of the most gorgeous pieces of outwear I've ever owned, and that's saying a lot for someone whose owned more jackets and coats over the years than you can shake a big fat titanic shaped stick at.

Oliver Spencer has always and will always be one of my favourite labels, the sheer quality, classical style and timeless appeal that it holds is never faltering, consistently producing delicious pieces of clothing that makes my mind melt...

Bravo.
