I have my eye's firmly fixated on a quite dandy Bell & Ross timepiece for this year, but while I'm currently waiting and choosing to make sure I get the right one this is a very nice alternative for day to day wear.
I've been enjoying Post 'O' Alls for a couple of years now, honest down to earth clothing.
It's certainly been the time's for work wear inspired clothing & footwear but as others fade away and fashion moves onto something new Post Overalls continues to serve up clothing in the same way they have for the past 18 years since they started, same ideas, same concept, same great looks.
This is the Japanese cotton Mattalini jacket, perfect for hot summer day's and also for layering on the cooler one's.

The idea was to create vintage-inspired but practically new work clothes that can match with our love - superbly detailed and beautifully constructed vintage pieces. PO has its primary design idea deeply rooted in vintage work clothes and other functional garments-such as military outfits and outdoor garments-which are all evolved from work wear platform.
The colour swung me most as this is a reworked Post Overalls jacket brought out in various seasons but none that I have really taken a liking too until now, there was always something else out that I preferred but this is right up my street for this spring/summer
While checking out YMCs new quarters just off the Old Truman Brewery recently I couldn't help but snap up this absolute gem that they created for Japanese collective the 'Journal Standard'. My Japanese isn't really up to much but some of the kit they have on their site is just too cool for school and this all selvedge chambray hooded summer number fits right into that category. I managed to snap this up just from being in the right place at the right time. These aren't mass produced and the small amount of stock they turned out is split with Japan, with The Journal Standard receiving the lions portion.
There are some fine details to behold with this, I particularly like the cut - slim and straight with a definite Ivy League edge to it. The selvedge chambray oozes summer time class and the roll away hood pretty much rounds this off as being one of the best purchases of the summer bar none. I've been wearing it as a layer, as it looks rather dashing under the gold poplin Woolrich Woolen Mills Trail parka. Give it a few months and this will be getting worn to death... I haven't seen anything to rival it for hood less lightweight summer jackets as of yet.
Inspired by a jacket worn by Wilfred Noyce on an Everest expedition, part of mr Cabourn's authentic line, I had been toying with it for month's until my arm was literally forced behind me and into my bank account, who am I to say no while being violently forced into buying such brilliance.
Made of a Mackintosh upper with metal clip's and waxed cord and Harris tweed lower section's.

Anyone who knows me personally or is an avid reader of Sinister will know that when it comes to music I'm a very passionate cat. I've always swerved away from using the term 'Hero' as it sort of conjures up images of pre-pubescent fascinations with marvel comic characters so I'll try and explain this one the best I can. I would respectfully count Soul Clap as personal heros...
To me they are the best party DJs in the world bar none - I've been lucky enough to catch them once on New Years Day up at Warehouse Project in Manchester... I'd not been to bed from New Years Eve's partying and I'd caught the train up from London on the back of a quality session. Feeling a little fragile somewhat, when these chaps took to the decks in the second room I knew the suffering on that train had all been worth it. They destroyed the place.
I've posted up two videos that I've watched over and over - Unfortunately there's two because whoever was filming it obviously felt the need to dance (This is most understandable, as if I'd have been there I'd have been swinging from the ceiling) It's Soul Clap at mono NYD (presumably before they detoured over the Pennines and onto Manchester where I caught them later that night as detailed above) dropping my favorite jam of the minute, a sublime funk cut from MAM titled Bedroom Dancer. I've searched high and low for this record but it hasn't been released on its label - Outcross, much to my utter dismay.
The thing I love from the video, especially the second one is how much this pairing from Boston are into it, loving the vibe and generally doing what a lot of DJs fail to do - party themselves.
I'm lucky enough to have been hooked up with guest list for this coming Saturdays Wolf and Lamb & Soul Clap DJ kicks night at a secret location in London... I genuinely haven't been excited about something as much for a long time. I get the feeling it's going to be a very special night and with the energy that Soul Clap produce with such love for the party, together with records such as this you can bet your bottom dollar I wont have moved from the floor all night... Enjoy !
After a seriously heavy weekend which took us from behind the decks at Horse and Groom to a rather sketchy basement at the wrong end of Old Street, Parks in Hackney Wick to Moroccan bars on cobbled streets and the outer reaches of our minds, Sunday was a much needed day of rest. I spent it with my girlfriend pacing around the gloriously vibrant markets of Brick Lane - digging through crates of old records, searching through racks of vintage Tweed jackets and filling my face with some delicious Asian cuisine.
Once I'd drank in all the exotic sights and smells on offer I decided the recovery process wouldn't have been complete unless I went home with something... so me being me, I treated myself to the Universal Works Scout Parka in slate grey.
This is a fine bit of kit for summer, 100% cotton, plenty of pockets and a brilliant loose cut that looked too good on to put back on the rack.
All in all a perfect way to round off what was a truly ace weekend!
Our Legacy... The epitome of uncomplicated style? I reckon so. While on aforementioned shopping missions I dropped by Number 6 and snapped up this killer knitted cardi from the said label. This is PERFECT for the summer, the subtle cut, the melange shade, everything about this just hints at long and antic filled evenings in the height of fun times.
I love the laid back and un-hurried vibe Our Legacy give off with a lot of their stuff. I knew I had to have this as soon as I saw it... I'm sure you can all see why!
I promised posting and I'm a man of substance, so here's my first 'proper' entry for a little while and what better way to get back into the swing of things than with a post about one of my favorite things in life - Sunglasses.
The weather has been glorious of late especially down in my home from home of London Town, so on a recent shopping expedition I picked up these cheeky little darlings from The Garbstore.
As one can only imagine, they've been getting plenty of love... Possibly the coolest sunglasses ever made?

I've just got back from yet another unforgettable weekend in London so I thought I'd share this rather dashing picture of Sinister Delicious / Boogie Cartels finest taking a post all nighter stroll through East London after the quite fantastic Discovery night we played at this Friday just gone. I could never, ever, be able to pin down my favourite record, who could ?
A certain few track's are all right up there in my soul, record's with feeling, soul, and inspiration.
Records that no matter how much they are played and how many time's I have heard them still get that same reaction when I play or hear them.
The Source & Candi Staton's 1986 soul vibration of "you got the love" on label streetwave is one such record.
With lyrics that have left a pattern deep into my heart I will just never tire of it, through all my growing up various cut's of this record have been released and they mean something, I can hear it and relate it to something and somewhere, a lot of music does this I would imagine with everyone.
Well over the last few year's those lyrics have meant more to me than ever, and also to my close circle of friends, the writing is on the wall as they say and none truer as now as the part lyrics sit proudly on our wall.....
Obviously the track is better known by most vocally over the top of a Chicago house dub, through it's various form's it's all quite easily palmed off under one banner but it all run's a bit deeper than that, above is the streetwave release from 1986 of Candi's legendary vocal, but even before that (which when you think about it in terms of it being 25 years ago is mind blowing) in 1984 is Jamie Principles demo version of his record "Your Love", a chilling vocal and something quite special that would eventually help shape dance music. This track is Jamie Principle's, his song & his vocal, an amazing vocal that's replaced by Candi Staton's vocal and re-released as "You Got The Love" in much later life. I have the original from him of this record that dates back to 1984, a bit choppy but a great listen, it was then re-worked and played through Chicago during 1985 before being released in 1986 but not with Frankie Knuckles and was produced by Mark Trollan on the Persona record label, it was clearly turned out as Jamie Principles "Your Love". Frankie Knuckles then re-released it in 1987 under his production but with Jamie still on vocal's, simply as Frankie Knuckles presents.....Your Love. It was this version though that paved way's in Chicago and worldwide and established it as a legendary house classic. All of these path's lead up to the mash up in 1991 of the Your Love dub and Candi's You Got The Love vocal mixed by DJ Eren, which again lead up to numerous edit's, mash up's and remixes throughout the year's, none of which come close to the original's although a very tasty version on the Disco Deviance record label in 2009 by cosmic boogie certainly turned head's in the form of "Feel's Good (you got the love), I will leave it now with a few pictures of the past and some records for you to have a browse through, plenty know the history of this and have these copies but for those that don't and are reading this for the first time I hope you enjoy it and it pieces thing's together for you.

Grenson x Esquire magazine collaboration William brogue's.
Grey and chalk blue suede brogues, in celebration of Esquire magazine's 20th anniversary. Only 35 pairs of these brogues have been made. Grenson brogues have a grey wing-tip and heel, pale blue upper, grey laces (with alternate white laces included) through white eyelets, a stitched sole, brown stacked wooden heel and leather soles. Very dapper and not too long now before I bring the house crashing down with the speech...... and have a friendship terminated on grounds of wrongness.
You can't help jumping to the beat when the sun's in the sky and you've got a free weekend to be spent in London... Ace

If you're about in London next weekend, we've got the absolute pleasure of being on the bill with none other than Jacques Renault... Some serious fun and get downs to be had at London's Disco crucible - The Horse and Groom.
During my latest reconnaissance missions around the vast gulley's and canyons of the internet I came across a label that's a new one one me... From the research I've done it would seem that La Panoplie is a label which is in it's infancy. Taking French nautical heritage and putting out kit on this tip is something they seem to have got the hang of.
As well as the usual standard Breton stripe knits and tee's, the collection contains a rather natty Chambray fisherman's jacket and other bits of outwear that look pretty decent.
In my opinion though, La Panoplies stand out effort comes in the form of this killer checked hooded number. Taking the design of a work jacket and spicing it up with a gorgeous gingham make over makes this a very inviting pick up for myself. Lets looks at the facts -
What more can be said about the Boogie Cartel Launch other than we achieved exactly what we set to do - Throw a party where everyone present had the time of their life's and left with massive Cheshire Cat grins.
Further more I can only echo Shaun's sentiments in that we had an absolute ball from start to finish! Music was spot on, crowd was spot on and it was rammed all night.
It's safe to say The Boogie Cartel have landed... Oh and to go with Shaun's stellaaaa mix here's my own set recorded from the night along with some ace pictures.

Right then, apologies on the lack of post's the past few day's, after our Boogie Cartel opening night at the Horse & Groom in London Saturday night it's taken me a while to get myself together, and Saul's excuse is the fact he didn't stop partying and get himself home until yesterday, massive wrong un' that lad....... that's why we get on so famously.
I don't know where to start, the night went off with an absolute bang, nobody knew what records any of us were playing so each set was a treat, and what a treat they were, it's not even easter yet. From very early on the finest selection of Disco, Boogie, House was screaming it's way around the upstair's room and sending us into jitter's.... the rest as they say, is history, much love for Wilksy, Tommy, and new friend fellow Boogie Cartel resident Gary, these boy's were only outshone by the massive pink neon "Boogie" sign. I've been debating this rather charming Oliver Spencer Navigator jacket for quite some time... It's been in the sale section on Oliver Spencer since the summer and more than once has been in the basket only for my quick draw finger to shy away after flirting with the button so vigorously. Today it clicked the button.
I reckon this is a killer bit of kit for summer - plenty of Breton stripes and some well tailored shorts and you've got a pretty dandy summer ensemble.
Very much looking forward to receiving it and busting it out for those warm summer days... Ace.
